Dr Helen Yang
What I can offer as a Mentor
I have attained formal qualifications in education (upto a Master’s level) and accounting (upto a PhD level). I have extensive university teaching experiences in Australia, China, Malaysia and Singapore. My unique experiences and my professional memberships with leading accounting professional bodies have helped me better understand the issues in teaching and learning of international students in Western universities’ English-medium programs. I incorporate a social-cultural constructivist perspective into teaching accounting programs and my cross-disciplinary research. I have received several teaching awards including the honourable Australian Awards for University Teaching Citation Award for my contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning and leadership in transnational educational programs. In 2021, I have been awarded Senior Fellowship of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). I have mentored two colleagues in receiving the AAUT Citation Awards) in recent years. I can give guidance on the scholarship of learning and teaching and research-informed curriculum review and development.
