What I can offer as a Mentor
Many students studying health sciences or medicine commonly find the foundational science subjects to be a difficult, challenging component of their curricula. Mastery of these subjects is essential not only for a fundamental understanding of the human body, but also due to the expectation that they can apply this knowledge in later years, and into their future careers. Dr Christian Moro has developed innovative, creative and technology-enhanced curricula that engages his biomedical sciences and medical students’ in a rich and interactive learning experience while developing critical thinking and understanding. The impact on student learning has been recognised through the recent receipt of an AAUT ‘Teaching Excellence’ Award, a National Teaching Citation, the AFR Higher Education Award, a Gold Reimagine Education Award (the ‘Oscars of Education’), alongside many other international and institutional awards and commendations. Many of the physiology educational curricula created by Dr Moro, including applications, Instagram and YouTube sites (“Physiology with Christian”), software and learning resources are freely available and now utilised to enhance learning and teaching by millions of students and academics around the world.
